They learn the main procedures used in data processing, interpretation, modelling and inversion of gravity data and understand how to apply gravity methods in exploration and other stages of mine life circle. The course includes practical work with the digital gravity data acquired in real projects.\r\nThe airborne geophysical techniques are considered as non-invasive, environmentally friendly and socially acceptable methods of imaging of the Earth's subsurface. That is why the course contributes into development of the following generic skills: digitalization, ethics, internationality, sustainability and responsibility, critical thinking, identification and development of one's own expertise, and interaction and communication.","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Sisältö","valueEn":"Content","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"The course is continuation of the course Potential Fields and Airborne Geophysics, Part I. It consideres airborne gravity and electromagnetic methods and their application in exploration and mining","valueEn":"The course Potential Fields and Airborne Geophysics consists of two parts. Part I deals mainly with magnetics and airborne magnetic geophysical investigation and radiometric methods. \r\nThe Potential Fields and Airborne Geophysics Part II deals mainly with gravity field theory, methods and instrumentation used in ground-based and airborne gravity measurements. It also provides introduction to electromagnetic airborne methods.\r\nPart 1 of the course is introduction to the gravity method is used to access the density distribution of the subsurface, that is why it is important to understand what factors define density of rocks and minerals and what are the methods to access the density. This part also considers the theory of gravitational potential and its first and second derivates that form a physical basis of a gravity method in geophysics.\r\nPart 2 considers the instrumentation used in ground-based and airborne gravity measurements.\r\nPart 3 considers main procedures of gravity data acquisition, processing and visualisation in ground-based and airborne gravity surveys\r\nPart 4 explains the main principles of gravity data modelling and inversion.\r\nPart 3 and Part 4 of the course include a number of practical exercises with real digital data using up-to-day software at OMS.\r\nPart 5 of the course is introduction to airborne electromagnetic methods illustrated with examples of data acquired by Geological Survey of Finland and in research projects with participation of OMS.","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Suoritustavat","valueEn":"Study Methods","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"Exam","valueEn":"Exam, essays about main topics of the course, reports about practical exercises.","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Toteutustavat","valueEn":"Teaching Methods","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"Järjestämistapa\r\nLectures, practicals, digital learning\r\nLectures, practical exersises, independent work","valueEn":"Mode of delivery\r\nLectures, practical exersises, independent work","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Oppimateriaalit","valueEn":"Learning material","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"","valueEn":"","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Lisätiedot","valueEn":"Further information","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"Opetuskieli\r\nEnglish\r\n\r\nAjoitus\r\nPeriod 2\r\n\r\nKohderyhmä\r\nMaster's students in Mining Enginereering and Mineral Processing, especially the Applied Geophysics study option\r\n\r\nVastuuhenkilö\r\nElena Kozlvskaya","valueEn":"Language of instruction\r\nEnglish\r\n\r\nTiming\r\nPeriod 2\r\n\r\nTarget group\r\nMaster's students in Mining Enginereering,Mineral Processing and Geophysics, especially students specialising in Applied Geophysics\r\n\r\nPerson responsible\r\nElena Kozlvskaya","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Kurssikirjallisuus","valueEn":"Literature","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"","valueEn":"","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Esitietovaatimukset","valueEn":"Qualifications","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"Esitietovaatimukset\r\nPotential Fields and Airborne Geophysics, Part I","valueEn":"Prerequisites and co-requisites\r\nPotential Fields and Airborne Geophysics, Part I","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Arviointiasteikko","valueEn":"Assessment scale","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"1-5/HYL","valueEn":"1-5/FAIL","valueSv":"1-5/FAIL"}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Arviointikriteerit","valueEn":"Assessment criteria","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"The course unit utilizes a numerical grading scale 1-5.
