They develop analytical, critical and creative thinking skills during performing practical tasks with the real data in EPOS AH TCS EPISODES distributed online platform and interpretation of their results. By working with the distributed EPISODES platform, the students develop their international and multicultural skills: ability to cooperate with the European network specialists dealing with the anthropogenic hazard problem and their professional English language skills. They learn the following digital skills: a) different formats of digital data deposited to platform; b) learn how to read and understand manuals concerning different applications; c) loading the data to application and creation of graphical output.","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Sisältö","valueEn":"Content","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"The course is intended for geophysicists, geologist and mining and rock mechanics engineers working at mines. The students get familiar with the geophysical instrumentation used in specific mining environment. A part of the course is introduction to mining seismology and the modern methods and techniques used to monitor and study seismicity and rock bursts in underground mines.\r\nThe course is consisting of four parts.\r\nPart 1 is introduction to mining geophysics and its tasks on different stages of mine life circle.\r\nDuring the first Introduction lecture the students get familiar with the concept of mine-life circle and with the possible harmful environmental effects of mining. The concept of sustainable development is introduced and explained using the model of the main pillars (social, economic, environmental and cultural) of sustainability in mining industry. Connection with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and mining industry activities is explained.\r\nThe role of different multidisciplinary mining specialists (geologists, mining engineers, mine planning and design specialists, geophysicists) and their interaction in realisation of rock mechanics program and ensuring of safety of mining operations is explained.\r\nPart 2 is devoted to problem of rock bursts in underground mines and mining seismology\r\nPart 3 is introduction to other methods of applied geophysics that are used in underground environment (electric and electromagnetic, acoustic emission, optical measurements). In this part of the course the student get familiar also with the methods that could be used to monitor mining tailing storage facilities and map their hydrogeological properties (TSF).\r\nPart 4 is introduction to geophysical methods and equipment that can be used in boreholes, with particular stress upon instruments that can be used in dry exploration boreholes.","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Suoritustavat","valueEn":"Study Methods","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"Continuous assessment (home work), final exam","valueEn":"Continuous assessment (home work, practical exercises, essays), final exam","valueSv":""}},{"title":{"valueFi":"Toteutustavat","valueEn":"Teaching Methods","valueSv":""},"content":{"valueFi":"","valueEn":"The course includes both lectures and practical exercises.
